Entering its 11th year, the Fall Flavours Festival (Aug 31 - Sept 30) is an Island-wide culinary extravaganza that showcases the talented chefs, farmers, fishers and food producers that are shaping PEI’s foodscape and cementing its reputation as a must-visit food destination. The Festival highlights authentic Island tastes and unique venues in communities across the Island. Featuring Signature Events hosted by acclaimed guest chefs, Culinary Adventures with local experts, a Restaurant Dining program and so much more
Charlottetown hosts several Fall Flavours events throughout the month including the following:
Things really kick into high gear in the capital with the PEI International Shellfish Festival (Sep 13 - 16) is a raucous 3-day kitchen party that showcases the Island’s rich bounty of seafood and the celebrates PEI’s unique culture. For an unforgettable dining experience, head to the Festival’s kick-off event, Feast & Frolic (Sept 13), where you’ll be treated like royalty and savour PEI seafood at its very best. Then settle in with Chef Lynn Crawford and Chef Michael Smith for a weekend filled with unforgettable culinary experiences by day and dance-inducing music by night.September 13 - 16, 2018.
A must for craft beer connoisseurs, the PEI Beer Festival (Sept 21 & 22) seeks to educate visitors and Islanders alike on the art and craft of brewing and tasting beer, while also serving up a great variety of beers, live entertainment and good vibes.
The Great Island Grilled Cheese Challenge (Sept 23) in the neighbouring town of Stratford is a perfect foodie-outing for families or follow-up to the beer festival. This friendly culinary competition of legen-dairy proportions sees chefs from across the Island duke it out to create the greatest grilled cheese sandwich. Enjoy scrumptious samples from each station, go back for seconds of your favourites and remember to vote for the top cheese in your books!
EXCLUSIVE EVENING AT RED SHORES (Sept 12 & 25)
New this year and certain to be epic, Redshores Racetrack & Casino will host two Taste of Coastal Communities events: An Exclusive Evening at Red Shores with Chef Antonio Park (Sept 12) and An Exclusive Evening at Red Shores with Chef Dustin Gallagher (Sept 25). Experience an intimate 5-course feast prepared by Executive Chef Andrew Smith and his guest chef. Thoughtfully paired with wines and views of the historic Charlottetown Driving Park (est. 1889), this is one VIP experience you don’t want to miss!
Bring your appetite to The Great Big BBQ (Sep 26) with Chef Corbin at the PEI Brewing Co. With several BBQ stations featuring Island favourites, beer pairings, and live music, it’s the perfect way to keep those summer vibes going.
New in 2018 and sure to go down in Fall Flavours history as an epic party, Harbour Feast with Chef Chuck Hughes (Sept 29) promises the casual ambience of a patio fete paired with upscale foods from the Island’s harvest. It all goes down on Charlottetown’s most expansive waterfront patio at Peake’s Quay Restaurant, where breathtaking water views and indoor/outdoor seating options await.
Finally, closing out the Festival with flare and family fun, Farm Day in the City (Sep 30) is the Island’s largest outdoor market, featuring +200 vendors and exhibitors. Join farmers, producers, artisans and crafters from across PEI in a celebration of all things local. Spend the day in the heart of the city, enjoying fresh eats, live music, shopping, kids’ activities and more. Free entry is the icing on the cake at Farm Day!
